Remembering Printz was posted to one of the rottweiler discussion lists and it is a sad reminder that basic veterinary care in many parts of the world is not anywhere near what we in the United States take for granted.
It certainly opened my eyes to how very blessed I am. My usual and favorite vet practice has been in the community for many years, and has a good mix of older, experienced voices and young ones not too long out of vet school. I am less than an hour away from two very well-regarded specialty clinics with board certified cardiologists, radiologists, orthopedists and dermatologists... and less than half an hour away from three 24-hour emergency clinics. One of those practices even has its own MRI machine. And I live less than three hours away from not one, but THREE excellent veterinary teaching hospitals.
Although I have chosen not to name the practices and individual veterinarians in public postings, that doesn't mean the information is completely secret. I'm quite willing to share contact information and personal experiences with others in the Chicago area (I'm on the northwest side of the city) who read about something that we've gone through that may be relevant to their own pet's issues!
